2009. Guillain-Barre

La Posta Foundation participates in FICAE 3 in the “Spaces of Reflection” block.

FICAE is the International Short Film and Art Festival on Diseases held annually in Valencia. The objective of this festival is to promote through the cinema and art the awareness and social awareness about the disease as a life process and counter the stigmas that many diseases continue to endure. In addition, this festival is proposed through various side projects and nomadic sections stimulate the creation and dissemination of audiovisual and artistic to give greater visibility to representations about the disease and collaborate in the transmission of knowledge about them. FICAE is an initiative of the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Chair of Art and Diseases. FICAE 3 is celebrated in the IVAM, Las Naves, UPV – Faculty of Fine Arts and Student House, Palau de Cerveró – Institute of History of Medicine and Science López Piñero, October CCC, Centro del Carmen and La Posta Foundation.

Within the block “Spaces of reflection”, whose objective is to create spaces and times in which to be able to reflect on different approaches to the disease. In the present case we do it from the experience of people who have gone through pathological processes. These conversational meetings we have called Conversa(c)tions.

On Monday, February 27, 2017, at La Posta Foundation, from 19:00 to 21:00, Conversa(c)tion of Pepa L. Poquet with Pep Miralles, director of FICAE: “2009. Guillain-Barre”. Guillain-Barré syndrome is a serious health problem that occurs when the body’s defense system (immune system) attacks part of the nervous system by mistake. This leads to inflammation of nerves leading to muscle weakness or paralysis and other symptoms.

Pepa L. Poquet is a visual artist and full professor of the Painting Department [Audiovisuals Area] of the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
