Summary season 2018-2019: Subplots of the image


Are there hierarchies between the images? We think that they are determined by the organizational models applied to their thinking, creation and dissemination. At La Posta Foundation we follow an organizational model that dilutes the differences between inside and outside the organization. As stated in the letter of presentation of La Posta ―on this website―: " La Posta Foundation is a nonprofit organization that bases its strength in establishment relationships with partners who work for their own benefit sharing common goals". This indifferentiation between inside and outside of the organization is reinforced by the fact that, in the development of concrete projects, the differences between thinkers, creators and diffusers of the images and the audience to which they would be directed are diluted, because the latter actively participates in the whole process; an audience that often did not exist prior to the start of the project, but rather it is an audience that emerges with the development of the same and participates in the thought, creation and dissemination of the images. 50th anniversary of the Stonewall revolt


It is often cited as an event that gave rise to the Gay Pride and everything that would come later, the revolt that took place at the Stonewall Inn and in its surroundings, in the Greenwich Village of New York, on June 28, 1969. That was 50 years ago. For that reason, it does not seem a bad idea to dedicate a memory.

Feminist Video and Interventions


On Saturday April 6, within the program of parallel activities carried out within the framework of the exhibition Feminist Plots ―a formulation of the LABi team (a project of the Master in Photography, Art and Technique of the Polytechnic University of Valencia in collaboration with La Posta Foundation)―, we had the opportunity to see a feminist video and installations sample (plus a guided tour), composed of the following works:

Textile art in Indonesia. Ima Novilasari


In the last trip to Indonesia we had the opportunity to know the work of Ima Novilasari (1991, Blitar, Indonesia), who studied at the School of Art and Design of Surakarta. An artist/craftswoman who, although young, has a long experience in the field of tapestry, has developed among others a collaborative work with husbands and mothers "Visualization of the meaning of kinship through the Tapestry", a work that shows that during work in the group elaboration of tapestries other values ​​arise

Feminist Plots. Curatorial text


Feminist plots, exhibition of LABi 2019 (Laboratory of thought, creation and diffusion of the image), a project of the Master in Photography, Art and Technique of the Polytechnic University of Valencia in collaboration with La Posta Foundation, Image Research Center, seeks to generate a reflection on the various proposals in textile art and its multiple links with women artists and/or artisans. For which it gathers pieces of the creators Teresa Lanceta, Bia Santos, Miriam Martínez Guirao, the collective artistic project CraftCabanyal, Anabel Mateo and Jessica Espinoza.

Brutal Ardour. Sound art and experimental cinema


Before Manuel Huerga became a renowned director of stage, film and television, in 1978, with only 19 years, he made the film "Brutal Ardour" (29:13 min.). It is often said of this film that it is experimental, but unlike what used to happen with the experimental films of the time, in which the soundtrack was circumstantial ―it responded to the musical tastes of the author of the film, with little or no relationship with the film―, however, in the case of "Brutal Ardour", the music used for the soundtrack is not only relevant but also becomes the protagonist element.

The March workshop and the pedagogical tradition in the Valencian neighborhood of Carmen


With the exhibition “Suspended Places. Revitalizing Urban Identities”, an exhibition organized by LABi (Laboratory of thought, creation and diffusion of the image), integrated by a group of students of the Master in Photography, Art and Technique of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, in collaboration with La Posta Foundation, we have the opportunity to see a series of pieces from the March House-workshop in Mare Vella street; along with works by Pau Figueres and Pepa L. Poquet, in a dialogue that comes to focus attention on the impacts and transformations suffered by the city, little attentive to the life forms that inhabit it; because the March workshop suffers the threat of the pickaxe, for the sake of the progress of the city (the opening of a square at that point is intended, in order to be able to contemplate the remains of the Islamic wall of the city).

During the past year 2018 Vicente Ponce and Miguel Ángel Baixauli have launched, in collaboration with Sonia Martínez and Nuria Enguita, the program "Images on Images. From cinema to photography", a new way of approaching the enjoyment of images, taking as an argument some exhibitions that have taken place at Bombas Gens Art Center, but the power of the device put into action is of such intensity that it has sufficient entity in itself for us to pay attention to it, independently of the exposures to which it was associated.

An original production of Cinema to come ―The strategy of the grass, up on the screen― that sums up pretty well how to operate these journeys of non-fiction and experimental cinema, whose activity incorporates participants and audience in a little differentiated way, introducing them into a flow that goes through different times and places.
